I had the chance to demo the E-M1X for a few days and figured why not. I was hoping to test converting negatives using pixel shift, but the supplied lens just wasn’t cutting it (upon second look, there’s an asterisk on the Olympus website stating the magnification rate was a 35mm conversion).
The AF system is impressive, the LCD panel is crisp and bright, on paper it’s a great camera. I’m sure it’s partly my lack of familiarity with the Olympus system, however this experience reaffirmed my Fujifilm preference.
With the majority of buttons being multifunction and lacking dedicated shutter speed, ISO and drive mode dials, shooting felt a bit clumsy and more akin to using a new piece of software opposed to a piece of hardware with decades of heritage.
Anyways, it was fun to shoot on something new and offered a fresh perspective on gear preferences. Gallery below, click to enlarge.
